The Miller’s Sons

7dials-8Times have changed! Nowadays there are many restored water and wind mills in England and although most are no longer used for milling, many are open to visitors. It’s a treat to visit old mills that still produce a small amount of flour which can be bought from the miller, and even recipe books to make a good job of home baking. There’s also a good number of commercial mills, some still family concerns, all doing a roaring and thoroughly honest trade producing the highest quality flours.

The top photo is Halnaker windmill in Norfolk. The miller is a perfectly fine, honest and upstanding gentleman and nothing to do with the rascally family described in the song!

The song is from my new album Seven Dials, see menu 7.
