Lucky Jim

IMG_0489.JPG

Written by Charles Horwitz & Frederick Bowers in 1896, Lucky Jim was a little-known song until it was heard in the 1957 film of Kingsley Amis’s 1954 novel. Unfortunately book and film quote only the chorus.

The story in the film and the book has nothing to do with the rather subtle song, which I heard in about 1965, neither has the photo of a nearby lane, except that I’m ‘lucky’ to live in such a lovely part of the world.
