Our granddaughter likes dressing up, particularly if it’s a special dress, and this one is very special. Her mum, Emily, made it for the end of year art exhibition work at college.
Being recently diagnosed as Type 1 diabetic has meant a lot of change in a young life as she’s learning how to do her own blood tests, spot warning signs and try to balance her diet. At first glance the dress, called Sugar and Spice, looks like something any fairy tale princess might wear, but look closer and you’ll see that it’s largely made out of diabetic treatment packaging and sharps covers.
This week Emily gained a pass with Distinction for her work. Click on a mosaic photo to see them all in detail.(We Are Three Brethren will be the next song!)
